June 2024 sees Adoption Focus celebrating our 15th anniversary as a Voluntary Adoption Agency.
During this this time, we’ve grown from modest beginnings operating in Birmingham, Staffordshire and Oxfordshire, into one of the largest and most successful VAAs in the country, providing services to the whole of the central England region, from Cheshire across to Lincolnshire in the north, to Gloucestershire and Buckinghamshire in the south.
We’ve been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted every time we’ve been inspected, and we continue to grow and develop to meet the needs of our adopters and their families.
Over the past decade and a half, we’ve placed more than 700 children with 500 families. We were lucky enough to be joined by many of our families at our recent anniversary celebration party.
These occasions are always so heartwarming. Seeing families thriving is a wonderful reminder of the purpose of our team’s hard work and dedication. We get to reconnect with our adopters and their children and catch up on their continuing stories, some of which were recorded at the latest event. We’re looking forward to sharing these online soon.
We also have a new a special new episode of our podcast series Adoption in Focus, featuring Nathan reflecting on his adoption journey with us, 10 years since he met his children.
You can find out more about our story so far through this short video, narrated by our CEO Anna Sharkey.
On this landmark for our charity, Anna said:
“This June is a special month reflecting on what 15 years of Adoption Focus means for us; celebrating the lives changed through the families with whom we have had the privilege to work; and acknowledging the brilliant commitment and support of our staff, Trustees and Volunteers. So proud of what we have achieved - a celebration of family life in all its various forms. Working to enable every child to have a family in which they can grow, thrive, feel loved, know who they are, where they come from and where they belong. Here’s to the next 15 years - working together to improve lives.”
Well said, Anna. Long may Adoption Focus continue to go from strength to strength.
