Fundraising to reach our 15th Anniversary Campaign Goal

Having lived and worked in Canada and the UK and fundraised in various capacities for over 20 years, I joined Family Society – Adoption Focus in 2022. Post-Covid and right in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, this was a tough time for most people, and a very challenging time to raise funds. However, since then we’ve established several channels and opportunities for supporters to get involved, some of which are completely free, and one of which offers you the opportunity to win cash prizes!

Could you help us to reach our 15th anniversary campaign goal by joining in some of our fundraising activities?

Fundraising can feel like a scary notion to some people as they believe it’s all about asking for money by holding out your hand. I prefer to see it as offering an opportunity. You’re offering an opportunity to make a difference, to support a charity, or to participate in a fun event. Yes, the by-product is that you’ll raise funds for your favourite charity, but hopefully, you see my point, that giving people the opportunity to support a charity and make a valuable difference need not be a scary or awkward prospect.

You’ll probably be surprised to find that most people are either happy to get involved themselves, or comfortable supporting you to get involved in fundraising. Before we talk about the many ways you can take up the opportunity to support Family Society - Adoption Focus, let’s cover what your donations can achieve.

  • A £10 donation will provide a digital resource pack for adoptive families.
  • A £25 donation will fund activity materials for use within a Theraplay support package.
  • A £50 donation will provide a support or training session for all the members of an adoptive family.
  • A £120 (or £10 per month) donation would provide a virtual therapeutic consultation session for any member of an Adoption Focus family with one of our adoption professionals.
  • A £240 (or £20 per month) donation would cover the cost of developing a new support workshop.
  • A £360 (or £30 per month) donation could fund materials for our invaluable Life Story Work for children, along with a session with adoptive parents to share the work.

There are several very easy ways that you can take up the opportunity to support Family Society – Adoption Focus.

In summary, fundraising shouldn’t be seen as scary or awkward it should be viewed as offering an opportunity to support the great work that our charity does. No one asks for money; fundraisers offer donors the opportunity to make a difference to something they care deeply about.

No one gives you money; donors give for their own reasons and to express their values.

Hopefully, this blog has clarified that fundraising is an offer.
