Lindsey & Steve - Adopting for a Second Time

We always said if that we couldn’t have our own children then we’d adopt, to give a child or children a better life.

All of our family members were so on board when we decided to adopt and have our own little family.

We had some challenging times though, with covid hitting just three months after our little girl was placed with us. She was poorly as a baby and spent most of her little life in and out of children's hospital. It was hard through the pandemic, as we were spilt up as a family with my husband not allowed at the hospital because of restrictions. But this only made us stronger as a family. As we have both always said, ‘teamwork makes the dream work’!

Our little girl brought us so much joy that we wanted to adopt again to make our family complete.

So, in March 2023, we applied again to adopt another baby through fostering for adoption. The process this time was a little different with much of done remotely due to changes since the pandemic. But this didn't put us off; we thought it was a great way of doing it. We had a fab experience the second time around with both our Adoption Focus and local authority social workers.

Having our little one place in August 2023 was just amazing. It made our family complete.

It’s hard to explain our feelings, other than it's the best feeling ever to have another little bundle of joy placed with us.

The whole process has been amazing, and we wouldn't have changed anything for the world.

People say the kids are lucky to have us as parents, but I always think both me and my husband dropped lucky having two beautiful girls placed with us to make our forever family, not only us but for our extended family too.

Adopting is the best thing you can do; giving the child their best possible life. Yes, there are challenging times, but it only makes you stronger as a family. We can’t imagine our life without our two beautiful little girls.
