For years I stood in the playground not as a mom but as a teacher. I cheered the children on, I organised, I supported and I rehydrated children …. Oh so many children over the years!
But then 8 years ago I stood in the playground as a mom for the first time.
9 months…
I had been a mom for 9 months and was thrust into sports day mommy mode! It was a fantastic experience to see her little face light 💡 up when I was there…
Someone who cared, someone who took time to be there, someone who cheered her on ♥️
Another girl was in Y6 and at the top end of school. She helped organise the little ones at sports day.
I spoke to her mom and distinctly remember saying I hoped one day my little whirlwind 🌪️would be reliable and confident enough to be chosen for such a role…
Well, today was my YOUNGEST'S last sports day. The older has long finished… but there they were, both my children helping others; organising, supporting and cheering on the younger children.
Today was the day that THEY were asked to help out at sports day ♥️
My heart could burst with happiness ♥️
God is doing a work in their little lives and the transformation from wild child to sensible (….occasionally wild 😝) has been astounding to say the least…
It’s not an easy ride, it’s nowhere near perfect… but it’s come a long way and today was a moment to stop in the chaos and remember that first sports day moment 🏃♀️
